As we age, we begin to collect this stuff on our thighs. At least I have. It’s loose-skin/fat/non-muscle/wiggling stuff. I have no idea what it really is. Not cellulite so much as just old lady tissue. It gives me the creeps and it’s my mission (What’s more important? World peace?) to find a non-invasive way to lose it. No liposuction for me!
JUST THE FACTS, MA’AM
I’m a fifty-seven year old, caucasian/hispanic mix, female. I’ve had three children, they’re grown, I work, own a business, have a husband, grandkids and an eighty-year-old mom (that I’ve noticed also has the leg tissue in question). So I have lots of responsibilities, just like all of us.
I recently had my body fat checked and it came in at 20% which is okay, really, for an old lady, really pretty good for an American. BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!
HERE’S THE PLAN
- Leg weight workouts – 3 times each week, 6 exercises, 3-4 sets each for a total of 18-24 sets. Including squats, lunges, leg press, leg extensions, stiff leg dead lifts, leg curls (check here for descriptions http://bodybuiilding.com). Heavy! And quick, no meandering at the gym!
- Cardio workouts – 3 times each week, different days than weight training days. HIIT routines-bike, stairs, rowing. Thirty minute sessions.
- Watch my macros. 40% carbohydrates/40%protein/20%fat. This you can organize on FitnessPal. (http://myfitnesspal.com)
Today is Friday, October 23, 2015. I’ve measured my thighs, the circumference is: right leg, 20.5”, left leg, 21”. I weighed 134 pounds this morning and intend to try to maintain caloric consumption of about 1200-1500 daily. See my post, http://michellestaysfit.com/2015/09/21/what-i-eat-in-a-day/ for the scoop on food.
In 4 weeks, I’ll report back.
Wish me luck or better yet, join me!
